How Many Rehab Centers in Los Angeles? Statistics and Sources
If you're looking for how many rehab centers in Los Angeles there are, the statistics come from two official sources: Los Angeles County's public treatment network and the State of California's license list. Neither gives one tidy total, and the reason matters when you're choosing a facility.
Short answer: Los Angeles County has hundreds of addiction treatment sites. The county's own publicly funded network alone has more than 80 contracted treatment providers operating at over 350 locations, and private licensed and certified facilities add to that. The State of California publishes the full, current list of licensed and certified programs.

Why there's no single number
"Rehab center" covers several different kinds of program, and each is counted separately. In California, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has sole authority to license residential treatment facilities and to certify outpatient programs, including those offering detox and medication for addiction treatment. Hospital programs, opioid treatment programs and sober living homes sit in other categories, and sober living homes generally aren't licensed as treatment at all.
The most accurate count at any moment is DHCS's own list of licensed and certified facilities, updated regularly and searchable by county. The county also runs a service and bed availability tool for publicly funded programs. Nationally, the federal government's FindTreatment.gov, run by SAMHSA, lists state-licensed treatment facilities you can search by Los Angeles ZIP code, insurance and type of care.
